I entered the Panasonic World

So recently, i’ve been wanting to add more video centric work to my portfolio. I’ve been shooting with the Fujifilm X-s10 for a couple of years now, and I felt like (It’s time to try something new) the 8 bit video that Im recieving out of the camera is just not enough for me. I want a cleaner video, I want more depth…

So I started shopping around, I am a bit of a researcher when it comes to buying new things and I do all the research and I can I am invested in the Fujifilm system, I have a load of lenses, adapters etc for all my setup. So I started looking at the newest additions to the Fujifilm Lineup, I looked at the XT5 (Isn’t video centric) I looked at the XH2 and the XH2s and I was intrigued by the XH2s…..

So I looked online and found that the prices for an APSC system would end up costing me after including CF express cards around 2k, now i’ve seen some of of the footage that the XH2s can capture and I am blown away it looks fantastic but at that price I felt underwhelmed….

So again, back to the drawing board….I remember a friend of mine telling me about a certain brand and how he had a few cameras from them and sang their praises. I was intrigued so ended up delving into the world of Panasonic….

Panasonic a brand renown for their video centric cameras, had my attention. I started off looking at the latest addition to the lineup the Lumix S5ii and the S5iiX. They both looked like stellar cameras, but I felt overwhelmed by just how great it was, did I really need all of that? Was I setting up a cinema rig? And if I didn’t like the jump into a new system, would I regret spending all me pennies? I then looked at some of the other offerings such as the S1, G90, GH6 etc and so on… I was hooked. They seemed to all fit in the box and direction that I wanted to go and so I started scouring the internet for more information….

I found the Lumix S5, now quick story here…. There were two cameras that I wanted to buy when I first got into photography, the Fujifilm X-S10 and the Lumix S5….They were both in the runnings when I first started looking, however I ended up going for the Fujifilm as I wanted a smaller setup for Street Photography.

So circle back round and the Lumix S5 had my attention once again, I had read reviews and watched footage of its capabilities and found others saying “I actually prefer the footage of the S5” I then found that the S5’s were going for rediculous prices, rediculously cheaper prices than that of the XH2s!

It was decided, I was buying an S5. After a few weeks of searching on Ebay, MPB and WEX I found the right deal and the S5 was mine.

I now enter into the world of Panasonic, lets see what I uncover!
